Enrique and his family have made a name for themselves over the years with their award winning coffees. To find a coffee like theirs is quite difficult, we’re now just learning more as to why. Their coffee varietals are not found anywhere else. This year we sent their coffee to the World Coffee Research Lab for genetic analysis. What came back was quite telling. In short, both varieties we had been purchasing in the past are both distant cousins of Ethiopian coffees. The first varietal we’d like to share with you is a Bourbon that had some point cross-pollinated with an Ethiopian variety. It seems to make more sense to us now, just by observing the cup characteristics. This coffee is explosive with tropical fruit, full bodied, nuanced with florality and cools with a clean, citric wave. A truly astonishing profile loaded with the likes of mango, tangerine, meyer lemon and sweet blooms of apple blossom.
